Monday Workout ~ 5/23/11

Here’s an 8-minute circuit that can be a good way to get in a quick total body workout, if you’re practicing a new move that is taking up most of your time, but still want to burn a good amount of calories.

#1 – Plate Drags or Plate Pushes in the group exercise room – Wrap a t-shirt around a 45 pound plate – Push the plate across the floor up and back two times.  Make sure you know your start and end times, as this is the time you’ll be doing the next two exercises for.

#2 – Kettlebell Swings – Pick a weight that isn’t so heavy you’re going to kill yourself with, but is challenging enough to keep you hoping that you used a lighter weight by the end.  You will do the swings for the same amount of time that it took you to complete the Plate Pushes.

#3 – Push-ups – All the way up, all the way down.  For women, if you can’t do full push-up from the ground, get a step and risers and set them up at a height where you should be comfortable completing full push-ups (touching the step with your chest, to a fully locked out position).  This can vary from 1 riser, up to 10 risers on each side.  You’re going to do as many reps as it took you to complete the plate drags.

Complete as many rounds as you can in 8 minutes.
